Welcome to CRSG the Cambridge Refugee Support Group.
WHO IS A REFUGEE?
A refugee is someone who had fled serious persecution for reasons of ‘race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion’ (UN Convention on Refugees, 1951).
It is a basic right to be able to live without fear of persecution. We have both a humanitarian and legal duty to care for refugees.
ABOUT CRSG
CRSG was formed in 1993 in response to the plight of refugees from former Yugoslavia and now works for the relief of asylum seekers, refugees and migrant workers in Cambridge and surrounding area and who are in conditions of hardship or distress. At the start of 2008 CRSG was handling over 200 cases, offering access to education, training and employment. A team of dedicated and professional volunteers help us in our work.
OBJECTIVES
CRSG works for the relief of Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Migrants enabling them to settle in, and contribute to, their new community in a way that develops their life skills, improves their spoken and written English and helps them to access education, training opportunities and gainful employment in a safe environment. CRSG raises awareness of immigration issues to contribute to the development of a positive culture amongst communities.
